Road Trip!

Sign me up! I will travel with these two any day!
The girls and I set out early Friday morning to do our first real road trip - destination Davis! Normally we would have stopped in Fresno to see the crew but they were all out of town. So we continued along the beautiful 99 and headed to the "Heart of the Valley" a.k.a. Turlock! What a treat it was to see the "O" family twice in one week. It was like these kiddos never left each other!
More bath time fun!
Tad teaching Addie how to brush her teeth properly!
and the youngest of the group hanging out together!
Thank you Amanda and Greg for hosting us for the night. It was the perfect evening with great food, wonderful conversation, and of course play time! Thank you for making us feel like we were at home and for all the work it took to prepare for us and feed us!!! Tad and Sam you are two of the most fun loving, energetic, and sweet boys that I know. Thank you for playing with Addie, even though she did take your cars once or twice!! Piper, we can't wait to get to know you better in the next year. I have a feeling you and Reese will be connected at the hip at our next get together!!! We miss you guys already! Our next stop bright and early Saturday morning was the airport to pick up Dr. Jones. This was very exciting to get another pair of hands to help with the traveling and of course to see Kev after a long work week.. He has been working really hard the last 3 weeks at Desert Springs so we were all in need of a little family time... However once we picked him up and greeted him at the terminal no one had mentioned how COLD it would be in Sacramento, my goodness!!! But luckily we knew someone who lived close to the airport and made a bee-line to her house! Auntie Elisa was all smiles and so happy to see Addison and meet Reese. She was prepared with a box full of toys and hands ready to snuggle with. She is a natural and so fun to catch up with. I find myself always laughing with her, and feeling lazy after hearing about all that she is doing in her personal and work life, This girl is busy!!
Our visit was way to short and I look forward to connecting again at our annual "40 girls reunion" which will hopefully take place sometime in May! So we bundled up the kids and left Sac town and headed to Davis. It was so neat to drive through town and see how much things have changed. There are new restaurants, lots more stores, and so many college kids that now look like they belong in high school (am I really that old)!!  But with all the changes we saw so many of the things we love. Downtown was busy, and of course it would be, because Saturday is the Farmer's Market. I would have loved to take pictures and have a great story about how Addison played on the playground and rode the carosaul but honestly it was so cold!! Instead we headed to meet the Workman's at Dos Coyotes for a little pre-grame meal.  It had been way to long since we last saw this gorgeous family and the girls were finally at an age where they could play together. Taylor is a sweet, well mannered, loving little girl with two people who are head over heels for her. I love watching Sarah and Danny with her, she is so lucky to have two such amazing parents. We had a great meal of catching up and sharing lots of toddler stories. I could get used to seeing these girls a lot more if we ever moved up North again!
Love this picture of our daughters! Who knows maybe one day they could be teammates!
All the girls!
Addison was all about Taylor and by the looks of things
I think we have great friends in the making!!
There were lots of people I was looking forward to seeing at the game but " Coach Neener" as we called her, was on the top of my list. She played such an important role in my life while I was at Davis, as a mentor, a friend, a coach, and someone who I could really trust. She helped me in so many ways and even though we don't stay as connected as we should, I will always consider her one of the most important people who helped shape me in who I am today! Ohh and one more thing about Neener! I learned that she has two daughters and her youngest is named Reese!! We had no idea and were both so excited to learn this!
I knew I had wanted to come to this game for a long time. I am happy that it was able to work out and it was exciting to see his last home conference game. With all the attention and chaos after the game I wasn't able to get a picture with Sandy, so I thought this would be the next best thing!
Coach Simpson is an amazing person and I am happy for him and his family that he will be retiring this year. At Davis he is the most successful women's head coach and has truly made an impact on so many young people's lives. He is witty, quiet, sincere, patient, and so dedicated to his family, team, and this university. I am so happy and feel so blessed that he allowed me to play for him for 5 years and to be apart of this amazing program and family. Unfortunately, we couldn't make it to Woodstocks for the after game party. A certain little toddler was not having it and I couldn't blame her. Addison had been such a trooper through the whole day and so we packed up and headed for our last stop for the night, Folsom! Here we got to visit with our dear friends J.J. Jen, and Emma!
The girls hit it off really well. Emma is a great sharer and introduced Addison to all her dolls and toys. She was feeling a little under the weather, but nevertheless showed her little friend such a wonderful time. I keep up with the Jarvis' on Jen's blog so even though we haven't seen them for a long time, I feel like I know what is going on in their lives. I love that about blogging! The Jarvis' have a beautiful home that is so inviting and comfortable. The neighborhood is great and close to great running and hiking trails. Jen and I visited and chatted about babies, toddlers, potty training, cooking, working, and everything between. The guys were in heaven also catching up and even managed to find time to wrestle with each other! I was so impressed and couldn't believe the amazing dinner Jen put together for us. It not only looked great but tasted delicious. Did I mention she is 7 months pregnant?!? Jarvis family - it was a lot of work to have us and lots goes into it behind the scenes (shopping, changing the sheets, cleaning, etc...) and we were so so happy to have had the chance to stay with them. That alone was worth the trip! Thank you!
So although it was a quick road trip, about 14 hours in the car total , with two babies it went actually pretty smooth. We definitely had our moments but overall it was a very successful trip!! Thank you to all our friends along the way that made this weekend so special. We love you! and Go Aggs!! xoxox

  1. Kimmie, your blog is so cute! I can't believe how big and adorable your girls are! I swear it was yesterday that Reese was born but she's so big now! We need to get together again sometime soon!
